LEGAL CUT — Local community leaders and supporting citizens gather at the McKenzie Business Center Thursday afternoon as attorney Jasmine McMackins Hatcher (holding scissors) cuts the ribbon on her new law practice, located in Suite B of the center.

A McKenzie native has recently opened her own law practice in her hometown.

Local community leaders and supporting citizens gathered at the McKenzie Business Center for a ribbon cutting and grand opening for the Office of Jasmine McMackins Hatcher, Attorney at Law.

“I’m so excited,” said Hatcher when she saw how many had come out to show their support. “This gives me hope for the future.”

According to Hatcher, her practice will focus mainly on family law dealing with child custody, child support, child abuse and neglect, termination of parental rights, adoption, divorce, and post divorce cases, as well as probate matters such as wills, estates, guardianships, and conservatorships.

She said she will also be practicing some criminal law.

“I have successfully represented clients in the areas of criminal law, education law, employment law, civil rights violations, breach of contract, and personal injury,” said Hatcher.

“I hope to expand my practice areas and skill base in order to serve the citizens and families of Carroll, Benton, Henry, Weakley, and surrounding counties,” she added.

A 2003 graduate of McKenzie High School, Hatcher earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee at Martin in 2007. She went on to attend law school at the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law, where she earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 2010.

Hatcher started practicing law in 2010, serving children and families in West Tennessee with the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services. She transitioned into private law practice in 2014 when she joined the Law Office of Shon D. Johnson in Henry County.

Hatcher married McKenzie native Wes Hatcher in 2016 and the two currently reside in McKenzie.

“I look forward to building my life here and raising a family,” said Jasmine Hatcher. “With that, the decision to bring my law practice home was an easy one.”

Hatcher’s law office is located in Suite B of the McKenzie Business Center at 1751 Cedar Street. She can be contacted by phone at (731) 207-1298 or online at
