A young Jackson man drown on May 29 in the Carroll County 1,000 Acre Recreational Lake while swimming in the designated swimming area of the lake on the left side of the headquarter’s building.

Detravion (Tre) Jarrett, 18, was identified as the drowning victim, according to Carroll County Sheriff Andy Dickson.“A call came in at 2:02 p.m. of a possible drowning victim,” said the sheriff. “Members of the Carroll County Rescue Squad rushed to the scene where the body was recovered at 2:33 p.m. by Rescue Squad diver Tim Bennett.”

A couple of people were with him at the time with one of them being his girlfriend, witnesses said.

“Witnesses said he went under the water and didn’t resurface,” said the sheriff.

The drowning was ruled accidental and no autopsy will be performed, Dickson said.
